Goals and Objectives of the Research Center for the Advancement in Experiential Education (CAENE)
The OVERALL goals of NUNERU are:

To study the challenges and uses of experiential nursing education and to foster the development of nursing educational research;

To develop, work with, and build ideas with community partners (Schools/Faculties of Nursing, leading nurse researchers and other educational organizations) at local, national, and international levels;

To establish a theoretical and practical foundation for a high standard of educational process and educational research based on evidence-informed knowledge specific to experiential nursing education;

To foster innovation of modern experiential teaching methods and technologies in the nursing educational space.
Conducting Experiential Nursing-Education Research
- Study / research of the state of innovative experiential nursing education in different contexts of teaching and learning;
- Identification of factors that support the use of modern teaching methods and technologies for the development of experiential nursing education, based on studies;
- Creation of educational resources and evidenced-informed information that support the use of modern teaching methods, technologies, and thinking in nursing education;
- Participation in various types of educational research projects locally, nationally, and internationally.
Preparation and Publication of Research Materials
- Publication of research results in local, national, and international peer-reviewed compilations and journals;
- Introduction of research findings and innovative educational approaches to the local and international professional community;
- Preparation and publication of pedagogical research basics and guides for the professional community and interested persons.
Embedding Learning into the Training of New Health Care Professionals:
- Multidisciplinary experiential learning environment for undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate students;
- Creating undergraduate program research opportunities for research and applied learning;
- Supporting the development of graduate level programs in nursing education.
Organization of Conferences and Workshops
- Conduct of local, national, and international conferences and organization of workshops on pressing issues in experiential nursing education;
- Participation in local and international conferences and scientific forums.
Professional Development
- Training of faculty academic staff to share educational innovations;
- Training modules: modern approaches to learning and teaching;
- Teaching using digital media in the university space;
- Integration of evidence-informed teaching skills into nursing programs.

Memberships
Administrative Structure
The proposed structure will include a Director or co-Directors who will lead the development of NUNERU and will be responsible for generating and delivering its research reports. A steering committee will assist in decision making relating to operationalizing the vision, mission, and yearly goals of the NUNERU. This committee will also aid in identifying research needs. The members of the steering committee will be composed of researchers within the School of Nursing and a fellow researcher from a different department who may offer a wider perspective on the research agendas of NUNERU. Associate members are individuals who want to contribute to expanding the goals and objectives of the research unit. Their work may be published on the website. Associate Research Organizations are Schools of Nursing or health care organizations that members of the research unit whether through associate or main roles collaborate on joint projects to advance nursing education. Students are those that are a) currently involved with the research unit through one of the research networks i.e. BPSO or b) former graduates who have been involved in the research effort of advancing the work of one of the research networks.

A Director or Co-Directors are required to oversee administrative needs of the Centre. Interested Faculty members will also be part of the Centre infrastructure and will oversee their individual administrative needs.

Funding –A detailed budget proposal for the first three to five years that includes the anticipated revenue from all sources (eg., University, government, industry, recovery of indirect costs, royalties) and all annual operation costs, as well as plans for achieving financial self-sufficiency through external cost recovery will be part of the yearly reporting.

Physical Resources: For the first three years of NUNERU – the current learning space for NUNERU is through a virtual platform. All business related to presentations, meetings, and workshops will be conducted through Microsoft Teams. It is the intent of the Administrators of the NUNERU to work towards acquiring a physical space with a locked door for the Research Coordinator to work and store NUNERU business.
