Nursing Education
Nursing Education is about educating nursing students to the level of facilitating the delivery of positive patient outcomes and workplace well-being through evidence informed knowledge, practical skills, compassionate and courageous attitudes and values; and critical thought. Educating nursing students is about the creation of an evidence informed curriculum that opens the space for creativity and relevancy (Iwasiw & Goldenberg, 2015).

It is a responsibility of nursing faculty to engage in the scholarship of teaching and learning. Scholarship does not necessarily have to mean engaging in nursing educational research, albeit this is also worthwhile. Rather, scholarship in nursing education could be viewed through the Boyer's (1990) lens that describe four ways to enact scholarship. Boyer’s four avenues of scholarship involve:
1. Scholarship of Discovery – conducting nursing research to generate new knowledge in the field;
2. Scholarship of Integration – conducting literature reviews or critical analysis of connections across disciples to inform one’s discipline;
3. Scholarship of Application – translating knowledge into educational strategies within the curriculum;
4. Scholarship of Teaching – inquiring into teaching practices and student learning to enhance student learning outcomes (Oermann, 2014).

It is the intent of NUNERU to develop these four strands of scholarship with the aim of enhancing the student experience of teaching and learning. The work of NUNERU in nursing education is to foster reflection and inquiry (praxis) into teaching practices by Faculty in collaboration with nursing students and Fellow colleagues locally, nationally, and internationally.
