Best Practice Spotlight Organizations (BPSO)
Purpose of the Academic BPSO
In partnership with the RNAO, the advisory council members, students, champions, and other community partners, the Academic BPSO Steering Committee aims to create an evidence-based culture in all Nursing Programs at Nipissing University through systematic implementation of five RNAO best practice guidelines. According to the RNAO Request for Proposals in Ontario (2018-2021), the objectives of the designation program are to:
Establish dynamic, long-term partnerships that focus on making an impact on client care through supporting evidence-based practice;

Establish and adopt effective and consistent approaches to evaluate implementation utilizing structure, process and outcome indicators; and

Demonstrate creative strategies for successfully implementing best practice guidelines at the individual and organizational level;

Identify effective strategies for system-wide dissemination of BPG implementation and impact on outcomes.

Purpose of the Academic BPSO Steering Committee
In support of the development and sustainment of an evidence-based culture in the Nursing Programs, the BPSO Steering Committee will set the strategic direction of the BPSO work by driving decisions towards the monitoring and evaluation of Best Practice Guideline integration within curricula across all programs.
Key Objectives

to lead the process for achieving an Academic BPSO ‘designate’ status

to focus on the selection of key BPGs for curriculum setting implementation and sustainment

to develop skill and knowledge within the committee in concert with the expectations and learning opportunities from RNAO

to enhance faculty and student knowledge and involvement with project aims
-
to engage with the Nursing Programs members and other key stakeholders in supporting evidence-based practice projects and evaluations in relation to key BPG integration

to develop materials for evaluation and dissemination of the implementation of five-BPGs

to work within a budget constructed to reflect and support the activities outlined in the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO) Academic BPSO Designate Agreement
